Creating Roles; Setting Permissions – More Detail

Roles give different group of ArcLab Builders the ability to perform different actions that are applicable to their role.

For example:
(i) Creation of training content may be centralised in L&D department or WSH department.
(ii) Assigning training to learners could be done by individual Line Managers.

In such a setup, Builders in (i) could be assigned permissions to create content only, while Builders in (ii) have no rights to create content but can administer learner lists and invites.

Example 1: L&D | WSH Role – Full Permissions to create training content (modules & folders)

Example 2: Line Manager Role – Full Permissions to Administer Learners. No Permissions to create training content

Tips

– If you use Learner Groups to efficiently manage Learners, it’s advisable to include both Learner Groups and Learners in your roles’ permissions.

– Similarly, if you house your ArcLab modules in Folders, it’s also advisable to include both Folders and Modules in your roles’ permissions.

(Note that a Builder can join multiple ArcLab Pro+ workspaces and switch between them (more details in the next Knowledge Base article)
